Need info, uberti maverick derringer
« on: February 16, 2009, 03:09:38 PM »
Howdy all,
I picked up a derringer made by Uberti this last weekend, I have been able to find very little info on them.
I was wondering if anyone knew the story on these.

Maverick .45
A. Uberti, maker
intercontinental arms,  importer

They only imported them a few years and they are fairly scarce.  Well made and most (all?) were blue and case hardened.  I have one in its original box.

I've also got an IAR w/original box and papers.  IIRC IARs were made in the USA - San Juan Capistrano, CA in the 90s from tooling that IAR bought from Uberti.  Papers with mine says made in USA & deringer is marked IAR San Juan Capo.  IAR is listed as an importer and manufacturer.  Ubertis were made in the late 70s - mid 80s. I've got a circa 1985 Uberti brochure that lists the Maverick as well as the Uberti Sharps 4 barrel deringer.

Here's a post from another forum about the Uberti Mavericks - According to it, my production dates may be off.

Your Uberti should have a date code on the left side of the frame just behind the trigger screw.  Probably 2 letters in a box.
