So no shooting results yet? Weather has been the pits here so haven't been able to reshoot the tests in the 44.

Tried Old E yesterday, strictly chronograph, compared to Dupont 2f Lot # 02 66, Schuetzen 2f 18.01.2012, Swiss 1.5f unknown lot #, Old Eynsford E1/13FEB28B. 50 gs (measured) for all loads. 1884 Trapdoor used a blowtube after every shot as it was probably needed with the Dupont and Schuetzen. One wet patch between different powders. 405 g bullet.

Dupont High 1065 Low 1021 Average 1043 SD 44

Schuetzen High 1081 Low 1033 Average 1054 SD 48

Old Eynsford High 1031 Low 1110 Average 1119 SD 21

Swiss High 1286 Low 1202 Average 1242 SD74

All shots were in an area 5 1/2" by 2 1/4".

I will load more and make more comparisons shortly.

WM, if you're using a powder drop like the Lyman, next time when you load, leave the thing set at the Swiss load, and drop the Eynsford thru the same setting and see what you get over the chrono. Most of the testing so far has shown the Eynsford to be the same velocity as Swiss if not a little higher.
Also we're starting to find that the 2f Eynsford likes to be mashed just a little , maybe a 1/4 inch or more. The 1.5 isn't so picky , but the more you compress it the faster it gets, and the more the ES tightens up.

When I shot these loads the only load that wasn't loaded the day before I shot was the Swiss. I thought that seemed a bit high so I loaded some and reshot them over the chronograph. The loads I originally shot of the Swiss were loaded and most of them used before WR. I checked my logbook and they were NOT 50gs. So here are the results of the newly loaded Swiss.

Swiss lot# 090.512.

High 1130, Low 1106, Average 1116, SD 22.

You are correct on the compression aspect the Old E seemed easier to compress than any of the other three.

What has me really excited on this stuff finally is a couple of paper patch loads that with nothing more than a blow tube can go 10 rounds and still maintain gong match accuracy at 800 yds. :usabig: This stuff is going to be a game changer I think.

Don, not yet ... I leave for Ridgway on Sunday for a week of shooting Olde E' compared to KIK, old reloads that were in the Storm and 22LR black powders.
Calibers with Olde E'... 38-55, 38-72, 40-65, 45-70 and 45-90.  Plan on shooting over chrono at 100 & 200 on paper and then on Steel and Homer

44wcf doesn't have any Olde E' yet.  I'm bring him a can of FFg & FFFg

Patience  Don.  I haven't even unpacked the truck yet ... overall:
*  Olde E' is faster than Swiss, moderately faster than KIK in some calibers.  Ran out of paper on the chrono printer and have to do the Cx's on Excell
*  Not impressed with the foul in low & high RH compared to KIK.  Both were moist
*  Zero paper groups, all shooting was done at steel
Because of the increased charges and different velocities, shot more sighters than normal
Asides:
* I tried Goex 1FA powder (Skirmish) in the 45-90 and was impressed with the velocity
* I spent a lot of time shooting up loaded rounds ( had over 400) that were under water from the Storm.  Many went off and have many to pull the heads and dig out the powder - is like wet goo!

John
